We are deeply saddened and regret to hear the departure of our CEO Mr. Rupert Hogg and CCO Mr. Paul Loo. They decided to take up the collective responsibility and accountability for the damage of the brand due to the external factors with grief. It is undeniable that the tension is also shifted to our workplace in the past few weeks.
Inevitably we shall be able to comprehend the situation by now, CX has to FULLY comply with the new regulations laid down by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on the 9th Aug. The official requirement sent by CAAC included a term of “for CX to ascertain her employees who support or take part in illegal protests, violent actions, or overly radical behaviour shall be immediately suspended from any activity involving flights pertaining to China”. It is even required that Crew List/GD for flights flying into or flying over China airspace has to be sent in advance to CAAC to obtain prior approval.
It is grievous but true that none of us including the company has experienced such radical change. Our workplace is now and shall continue to be greatly influenced by many unforeseeable elements. We therefore have to work hand in hand to tide over this critical time. Hence we would like to issue some warm reminders to our dearest Members.
To uphold our profession, we strongly encourage our Members to continue our good practice not to establish any topic of political nor religious views inflight. Be extra cautious on actions and words made outside of working hours may cause significant effect on every one of us now. Meanwhile our personal view and freedom of expression shall always be respected. Please also be aware that social media platforms can be intruded by others, our views could be distorted or misused. Therefore, we urge our Members to be vigilant in this regard at all times.
Besides, we were informed by our Members that there are customs checks in some ports which thorough checks on all personal items is required. It includes handbag, personal belongings and electronic devices were all being inspected. Hence, you are advised to be well prepared to avoid undesirable consequences.
It is an indisputable fact that Cabin Crew are all dedicated to uphold the aviation safety. We trust our Members will continue to put their utmost effort to demonstrate our professionalism. In this critical moment, we plead for our Members to show our ultimate support and respect among ourselves. We are a community which consists of individuals from different cultural backgrounds, beliefs, personalities and identities. It is vital to accept the differences in views.
